Extended note: evening checkout drag

A regional retail platform saw cart completion slow after 8 p.m. while average CPU remained modest. During a throughput review we correlated edge TLS termination queues with a cache miss storm on product detail pages. The fix combined connection pool limits and a warmer for the top SKUs — not a full re-architecture. Peak latency at checkout dropped enough that support tickets about “frozen pay” fell the following weekend.

Extended note: warehouse sync overrun

A logistics group’s nightly inventory sync slipped past the morning cutover. Flow visibility mapping showed most wait time sitting in a message broker retry loop after a storage volume hit IOPS ceilings. Facilities adjusted the volume class; application owners shortened the retry storm. The sync finished before shift change for three consecutive weeks of observation.
